- What led you to choose ASICS?
During my school years, I was part of the basketball team, and I’ve been a loyal ASICS user ever since. Being someone with bunions, it was difficult to find shoes that would fit comfortably, but ASICS products were the only ones I could wear without injuring my feet. From that point on, I became fond of the brand. However, what ultimately convinced me to apply for a job at ASICS was the people and the atmosphere. While the work itself was appealing, I was particularly impressed by the interviewers and the HR team. I felt that the company’s vibe was a perfect fit for me. Since joining ASICS, I’ve found that the environment is filled with bright and friendly people, and I’m always having a great time working here.

Can you describe your current job responsibilities?

Currently, I hold two roles within the company. The first is to support the stable operation of the new core system that was recently implemented. The Digital Division has been working on a project to introduce a unified core system across ASICS' subsidiaries worldwide. In January 2022, the system was fully introduced to the headquarters and the Japanese sales companies, and now my role is to ensure its smooth and stable operation. I collaborate daily with users from other departments, such as marketing and production teams, to check the system’s status. If any issues arise, I work closely with the IT team based in the Netherlands to identify the cause and discuss solutions.

The second role is supporting the launch and operation of virtual races. While ASICS is primarily known for selling shoes and apparel, in recent years, the company has been putting more focus on digital initiatives. One example of this is the virtual races using the "Runkeeper" app, which tracks fitness activities such as running using GPS functionality. Not only do we host our own races, but we also collaborate with external events like the Kobe Marathon. I work with the Runkeeper teams in Canada and the U.S. to develop the race registration website and aim to create a user-friendly platform for participants.

What would you like to challenge in the future at ASICS?

In the Digital Division, I have many opportunities to interact with teams from different departments, and through that, I've become increasingly interested in various aspects of the business (laughs). Right now, the challenge I’m most excited about is the opportunity to be seconded to ASICS Digital in Boston, where I hope to contribute to the expansion of ASICS' new digital business initiatives. Fortunately, I’m currently surrounded by many inspiring bosses and senior colleagues, and I’m eager to learn from them and continue growing.
