ASICS Corporation has established a research base in California, USA, to accelerate global innovation, naming it "ASICS Institute of Sport Science America LLC."
In conjunction with this, ASICS has agreed to a partnership with the University of Michigan, launching the "ASICS-MICHIGAN SPORT INNOVATION CENTER."
Through this partnership, leveraging the University of Michigan's world-class comprehensive research capabilities and running environment as a foundation, ASICS aims to drive innovation that contributes to athlete performance by promoting its Global Integrated Enterprise (GIE) research framework.
Research and Development Examples
Based on insights from the Institute of Sport Science, ASICS simultaneously launched two high-performance running shoes: the "METASPEED SKY" and "METASPEED EDGE," each designed for distinct running styles among elite athletes, in 2021.
Since then, to provide continued support for top athletes, we have consistently gathered feedback and conducted comprehensive data analysis. In the latest 2025 iteration, in addition to updating both existing models, the "METASPEED RAY" was introduced, emphasizing lightweight construction.
