ASICS Institute of Sport Science
Institute of Sport Science
The ASICS Institute of Sport Science (ISS) is dedicated to 'Human-centric science', focusing on the rigorous understanding of human body and movement.
By leveraging proprietary materials and structural design, ISS strives to develop innovative technologies and products that maximize people's potential through sports.

case 01
The METASPEED Series is a running shoe for elite athletes designed to improve performance according to each runner's type, focusing on the differences between "stride type" and "cadence type" running styles.
Based on the collection and analysis of runners' data, the ASICS Institute of Sport Science redefined the differences between "stride type" and "cadence type" running styles. This led to the proposal of two types of products tailored to each running style, resulting in the METASPEED SKY and EDGE. Our commitment to innovation drives us to continuously refine the series through athlete data and insights.

case 02
The METARISE 2 is a volleyball shoe engineered for powerful jumps and soft landings.
Through precise measurements of spiking motions, the ASICS Institute of Sport Science optimized the carbon plate design in the midsole and the toe section curve. Our laboratory tests demonstrated an average increase in jump height of approximately 2.0 cm compared to the previous model*, enhancing player performance.
*Measured at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science as the highest position of the pelvic center during a spike jump. This value represents an average from 10 subjects (college men's volleyball team players). Individual results may vary.
